About

SYDNEY KOSTELAC is a dual MM and MLIS candidate at the University of Maryland – College Park where they are also a Graduate Assistant with the School of Music and a Research & Teaching Fellow with the University Libraries’ Teaching and Learning department. Their flute performance interests center around contemporary and experimental music for flute(s) as a focal point amongst their broader classical training. Kostelac is also pursuing a Master’s of Library and Information Science, hoping to pursue a career in music librarianship or a related field post-graduation. Their library interests include library instruction and information literacy, metadata, and performance/ensemble librarianship.

Sydney graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2025 with a BA in music performance and information with certificates in data science and digital studies. Working as a student librarian during their Bachelor’s degree led Sydney to discover their passion for music librarianship, something they are looking to pursue professionally going forward along with maintaining involvement in flute teaching and performance.

“My top priorities in my work are effective teamwork, creative problem solving, and attention to detail. As I move forward in my career and life I want to continue working to serve others and make valuable contributions to the music library and flute performance professions.” -Sydney
